The quilt design was inspired by the works of Frank Lloyd Wright.  Fifty guild members pieced 200 6" blocks with almost 100 different fabrics set with 1" lattice on point.  74 of the blocks were paper pieced from "The Farmer's Wife 1930's Sampler Quilt" book by Laurie Aaron Hird.  The black arches are made with 1/8" bias tape to add a delicate detail. Filled piping along binding. Longarm custom quilting with 2 layers of batting both wool and poly cotton.

Quilt Guild Challenge for the year 2023
"20-23"

So many wonderful entries in our  2022 Guild Challenge with ants at our picnic! Just a reminder of our Challenge for 2023. MVQG has encouraged participation in many challenges over the years. This challenge requires the use of half square triangles to construct a quilted item that measures between 20 inches and 23 inches in size. The half square triangles can be combined with one other shape, and borders can be added. It should have three layers and a finished edge. This challenge will culminate at a meeting in March
of 2023 where members will get to see the creative talents of fellow members. Have fun! Projects can ultimately be a display at the 2023 Quilt show to show new quilters what can be made with simple quilt blocks.
Any questions can be directed to
