Scholarships
As part of its “Giving Back to Our Community,” the Milford Valley Quilters' Guild awards a $1,000 or two $500 scholarships.
Applications are mailed out in the fall to many area high schools inviting seniors who are furthering their education in the field of art to participate in the guild's program. Students with a three-point average or above may submit an application, which will include a letter of recommendation from a teacher, a short essay of their personal history and goals for future career, high school transcript, a copy of their college acceptance letter, and portfolio of their artwork (CD accepted). The deadline to apply is usually the last day in March.
Field of Art includes: graphic design, oil, watercolor,photography or acrylic painting, mixed media,sculpture,fashion design, fabric design, interior decorating or other related fields excluding performing arts.
2022
Wallenpaupack H.S. student Andrew Cerciello receiving his award in the amount of $ 500.00 from Denise Sweeney representing the Milford Valley Quilters Guild on June 17, 2022. The scholarship is awarded to students furthering his/her studies in the Field of Art.
Andrew’s field of interest is Graphic and Fashion Design.

2020
The Milford Valley Quilter’s Guild has awarded two scholarships, $500 each. Scholarships are offered by the Guild to a high school senior accepted by a college to further his/her studies in the field of Art, excluding the Performing Arts. Recipients for 2020 are:
Mary Quinn from Delaware Valley High School
Mary is interested in Fashion Design and has been accepted at Albright College. She has followed a tradition of seamstresses in her family by learning to sew from her Grandmother. She is interested in a career in Fashion Design.
Kaitlyn Villanueva from Port Jervis High School
Kaitlyn has been accepted to Alfred University. She is interested in a Fine Arts/Ceramics Major with a goal of becoming an Art Therapist.
Both students came highly recommended and submitted excellent portfolios.
2019
The Milford Valley Quilters’ Guild has presented a $1,000 scholarship to a student from Wallenpaupack Area High School. The recipient is Madison Guzzo who was chosen for her outstanding artistic talent along with her academic and impressive resume of extra-curricular activities. The Guild proudly presented the scholarship award at their 30th Year Celebration meeting on May 22, 2019.



2010 Quilt
Pictured at right is the 2010 group raffle quilt with chairperson, Helen Marinaro. The proceeds of the raffle sales were put toward our annual school scholorship.
2018
The Milford Valley Quilters’ Guild presented two $500 scholarships to area seniors on June 13, 2018. This year’s winners based on their artistic talents are Alexis Haurey from High Point High School and Emma Winagle from The Wallenpaupack Area High School.
